The body manufactures Glucosamine, a molecule made up of Glucose and an Amine (Nitrogen and two molecules of Hydrogen). Its major function in the joint is to stimulate the production of Glycosaminoglycans (GAG's), which are the key structural components of cartilage. This progression relates to the stressors that cause the breakdown of the joint cartilage. These stressors include excessive mobility, joint instability, hormonal factors, altered biochemistry, circulating free radicals, poor diet, and others.
